3. Kaupapa: Hinemoa Katene
Wellington regional emergency planning - legislation change acknowledges rangatiratanga - direct access to funding for marae coastal and isolated - Hongoeka can become a self sufficient hub. Hongoeka can be used as a pilot marae based on the mahi we’ve already done and our strategy for what we need as mana whenua.
Chance to co-design, Māori for Māori.
National hui coming up - could be hosted here.Whānau agreed it would be very helpful and a good idea to have hui here.
Trevor - approach Whetu Bennet about grab bags - Hinemoa: rūnanaga has made them up themselves for $35 each. Hikitia: Strategic plan should consider climate change - rising water levels in extreme event plan to ‘lift and shift’.
Moana other options for high ground emergency hubs. Louise's and Quarry.
Ihaia: Hui rangatahi started 2012 many rangatahi involved. Recently including learning whakapapa with Aunty Pip and Raureti, whare taonga, tukutuku,
kowhaiwhai. Ihaia will step down from this role at the end of the year and would like someone to succeed this.
Keen to start up Ngāti Toa kapahaka again with aim to compete at regionals - try to rope in pakeke. Aunty Pip is keen to share some of her waiata. Need a name for the kapa. June /July start. Ngāti Toa centric. Rūnanga to release Aunty Dovey Katene‘s waiata. This kaupapa was pitched to kaumātua at Toa.
Kim Gibson and Kirsten Leo Mclean Ngāti Haumia, Wainui hapū - mihi for the 25th anniversary, learning whakapapa. Studying at Te Wānanga o Raukawa - iwi and hapū studies
Justin: Only just found out about Ngāti Haumia hui/wānanga at Paekākāriki - no consultation. Kaupapa already in place, hui, whakapapa, waiata etc. Need to build solid foundation.
Video from 25th as part of wānanga studies - will send to Aunty Pip.
Civil defence quotes - progressed in application. Policy moving forward - will get a sample for next hui to customise ourselves.
Luke: Trapping possums, rats, asparagus weeding from Gum Tree Valley to Rewarewa. Skins and fur not being utilised. Apologies for missing last 2 marae hui.
Keen for funding to support Kahu’s mau rākau wānanga. Establishing a nursery for ngahere regrowth. Tiaki taiao, whenua. Can manage maintain for a time, raise interest. Good kauapapa for kairaranga, rongoā crew, commercial, kaitiakitanga, mātauranga, whanaungatanga. Hand over for others to maintain.
Marae may want to consider carbon credits on whenua cleared for farming. Plant pine trees or natives. Canl receive passive income.
Hikitia: appointed project lead for emergency repairs needed for Whakarongotai to bring it up to health and safety code - application to Oranga Marae grant for consultation. Otaki college film students to film refurbishment. Generate ideas for whānau from our iwi, our kids.
Attended tangihanga of Kiri Kaa and her poem was read dedicated to Aunty Tungia Baker and is based in Hongoeka. Met her daughter. Poem handed over for us to use in some way - Kohai to look into how we could use this.
Toa rep on Greater Wellington City Council discussed with Helmut and Jenny Brash.
Will do due diligence first.
Could we do Zoom hui in winter?

Bins Waste management invoiced for the year
Rūnanga $2000 to measure up marquee $15,000 left for marquee. Maybe we should buy 2 tents Moana to look into.
Koha for hoodies coming.
Incorporated Society changing - registration process, new constitution,
administration,succession, court accountability. Fiona to look into.
Sandra moved finance and approval to pay payables Moana seconded - whānau agreed.
9. Bookings: Moana - updated maramataka tabled and sent out
June 20–26 Ata Matariki - Puna - Toa Strategic team overnight - We noho overnight Thursday, 24th Friday, Matariki Day Bus to Te Papa - dawn ceremony, taonga puoro, uku, Hongoeka Matariki events Saturday and Sunday 26.
Paremata Plimmerton Rugby - Premieres, colts, juniors, old timers overnight noho - continue to connect, whanaungatanga, our mokopuna involved - Moana to supervise kitchen - talk on whare. Request by Danny Merito NZ rugby to Ngāti Toa. Dates TBC.
August 31–September 2: Vic University Museum studies and Experience Wellington back to Hongoeka
Trevor: Dates for Civil defence emergency hui? 31 July on a Sunday 10am.
10. Properties: Building resource consented. Building to take place around Xmas - whānau who've booked marae need to be aware

Kaumātua Kaunihera - Kahu 25 years Tawhiti Kuri - on agenda to be approved - steel pou Nov/Dec.
June 18, Paremata Plimmerton oldtimers day - Does anyone have any photos of grandparents etc? Taku to do karakia, kōrero 12pm.
Sandra: redevelopment and Civil Defence applying for funding - 1st aid kits - new chairs - different ones.

discussion: Ok as long a it’s not to promote Labour Party. Good chance for us to voice our issues - council slow to respond.
Awhina: Koha given for taonga puoro hui
Te Papa Matariki week, 29 June - taonga puoro dawn to dusk, pūrākau, concert, activities.
Patricia Does anyone know where our official stamp/seal is? It’s not in archives
Kohai: Tukutuku learning - proposal to rūnanga for funds for materials, not ready yet.
Interest from some whānau - more would be good. Possible venues Whare Āwhina or basement Saturday or Sunday. We could get rent. Won’t interfere with Kahu’s Saturday morning wānanga 5–9am.
Toi Taiao finishing -Toi Tamariki never started back up - too risky. Are going to meet with funders - haven’t spent all funds allocated - some went on 25th anniversary.
Maikara: May need to get strategic plan together to update - not thinking far enough ahead - Fiona talked to Fiona on how it could be refreshed - needs a small committee and separate hui.
