A) Justin: Tabled and spoke to Hongoeka defence emergency plan.

Updates on site on Denise and Trevors land - top of Warren’s road.

Concerns raised by Caroline Howard about accessing and availability of their whānau land up there. Caroline was assured this doesn’t affect their land and anything on the emergency site will not be fixed objects.Water tank to be installed (free by council), may need new shipping containers. Discussed welfare, mobility, signage. Self sufficiency and communication (radios, satellite). The 2 weekend hui had great feedback. Whetu: Civil defence workshops can be run at marae and tailored to suit. Practice with different scenarios. Consider other equipment needs and prices. Whetū was asked if there are any equipment templates we could work off.

Steven first moved a motion that the Hongoeka CD emergency plan be approved. However Donna stated that not everyone had read it. Patrick realised it was only sent to a few by Fiona K and he was supposed to forward on. Patrick to email the plan to the wider whānau.

Steven moved a motion that we move into the next phase of consultation with the plan and that we support funding as well. Kohai seconded and all were in favour.

Patricia: It’s been great having the rangatahi input. Good vision.

Mihi from Whetu - great hui and example of a plan.

B) Maikara: Kai tahi on Waitangi Day was great

- Luke has been cutting tracks (good firebreak) for trapping. Long term vision for planting natives, weeding, plant nursery.

- Tony who lives in Harwoods old house has been working on old urupā track and has put hinges on gate. Whānau can still access urupā via his house - just let hom know.

- When do we open doors or wharenui again? General discussion: Some didn’t know they were closed. Thought it open for whānau only. Are committee/whānau liable if anything happens.

C) Fiona M: Te Reo survey has had 20 responses. Fiona to check with people, info and distribution list and provide a report. Back log of things to add to the Strategic Plan.

D) Ammon - Rūnanga Covid support for people in lockdown referred by GP - Tiaki Porirua

- Porirua Otaki Trust Board education grants and teacher scholarships available

- April is Hongoeka wharenui 25th anniversary - what do we want to do? Rūnanga has funding. Char has some old videos of opening. Kohai - tukutuku restoration and the replica tukutuku can be done. General discussion: Pot luck, whānau day - spread over different dates and have times/days and events for kauamātau, rangatahi etc to keep numbers down.

- Toa wharenui 40th coming up- special edition t-shirts to be printed.

- Marae contestable fund application due soon

- Funding available for reo, tikanga, kawa initiatives

E) Jolie: Uncle Brian's exhibition at Pātaka starts Saturday -12pm. Aunty Pat apologised for the limited numbers able to attend the opening. Kohai to email Patrick details and Patrick to email to wider whānau.

F) Jo Anne: Weeding going good - urupā track a bit slippery may need some gravel. Will send a pānui out regarding the upcoming Bush Coffee & Working Bee.

G) Steven: Hongoeka comms could be better - text message info, grapevine system, instant info, admin etc. Whānau don’t have capacity, this could be a paid position. Rūnanga have people employed. Patrick: We don't have a maintenance person or a caterer either.

Ammon moved that we look into funding an admin/comms person. Roera seconded.

H) Donna J: Indoor bowls here every Friday 7pm - gold coin donation

- Tiaki Porirua COVID response team booklet available

- Takapūwāhia has re-opened. It’s up to us to manage our own restrictions.

- Hui with Shaun ventilation engineer who said marae ventilation is sufficient - no need to buy the fans

I) Hunia: Sewerage system needs upgrading, Chorus fibre lines could be done at same time. PCC have an obligation to improve infrastructure - we pay rates and we should be lobbying for the aspirations of whānau, we have the ability.

J) Patrick: Maaka phat and Conrad Noema well known local musicians/producers have asked if they can film a reo Māori waiata video up in the bush. Patrick got them to get in touch with Char and Te Mako (who they know) and said he’d let the whānau know. There’ll only be a handful of them, possibly including Anaru Grace.

- Upstairs smells like dead rat. Do we change the traps or does the pest guy? Patrick to check upstairs traps.

- Pulled down the sail shade as it was blowing around and needs new fittings.

- Will get on to repainting the middle pou at Hongoeka entrance which has faded. They’re also cracked and have large splits. Patrick to contact Wiremu regarding rūnanga funding for restoration of whakairo.
